Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a condition that affects the nerves responsible for controlling movement. These nerves are located in the brain and spinal cord. MND can cause a range of symptoms, including difficulty with movement, speech, and breathing. It is a progressive, degenerative disease and there is currently no cure for MND, but treatments can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life. 

There are multiple forms of MND and around 5000 people are effected in the UK at any one time, It is more common in men than women and so far no know trigger has been found as to why or what causes it's onset. 

On average 6 people die every day with an average of 1 in every 300 getting the disease but it is more likely but not exclusive to the over 50's with an average of 6 people being diagnosed with the disease each day as well.

MND can leave you trapped inside a body that cannot move, talk swallow and eventually breath.

For those that are effected they eventually require constant care for the day to day needs.

This is a cruel disease with no cure or effective treatment currently available. Through the dedicated research of doctors and scientists around the world there is hope that an effective treatment can and will be found in  the next 3 to 10 years but this will only happen with the help and support that this and other charity events that help bring this to public view and draws the attention that it so desperately needs from the press and governments to ensure it gets the funding needed to help find a cure and or treatment.
